Services
The
University of South Florida Police Department is a full service law enforcement
agency. Listed below are some of the services provided here:
TRAFFIC
ENFORCEMENT:University
of South Florida Police Officers monitor and enforce traffic laws on a
continuous basis. The Police Department works with surrounding agencies
on and off campus to increase awareness by conducting traffic enforcement
waves for speed violations, safety belt enforcement and many other infractions
that need special attention.
SERVICE
CALLS: University
Officers assist the community by providing motorist with dead battery
assistance. During the week, Parking Services provides this service on
a continuous basis. Motorist with AAA are encouraged to contact them for
assistance. Based on certain situations police will also unlock doors
for faculty or staff.
PHYSICAL
SECURITY INSPECTIONS:
University Officers while out on patrol, also provide the community with
an invaluable service of documenting and requesting repair of anything
they feel could pose a potential hazard to the community such as traffic
view obstructions, road pot holes, traffic light malfunctions, emergency
blue light phone malfunctions, and building structural problems as well
as many other possible problems that might arise.
RETURN
PROPERTY: The University of South Florida Police Department offers
the service of holding and returning lost or stolen property until the
original owner can retrieve the property.
FIREARM
STORAGE:
The University Police Department will hold and secure all firearms owned
by students or staff.
MEDICAL
EMERGENCIES:
The University Police Department provides the response of patrol officers
to all medical emergencies on campus. All University Police officers are
trained and certified in C.P.R., First Aid, and the use of an A.E.D. (Automated
External Defibrillator), officers will provide first responder assistance
until medical personnel arrive.
PIZZO
ELEMENTARY:
The University Police Department works very closely with Pizzo Elementary
School located at Bull Run Drive and Fowler Avenue. Patrol officers provide
the children with occasional classroom instruction as well assisting faculty
and staff with various types of assistance.
