Senior
Security Guard
- This is work coordinating
security operations within a designated area and/or implementing enforcement
and investigative security procedures not requiring sworn law enforcement
authority.
- Patrols building
and parking lots, constantly being alert for criminal activity and other suspicious
actions. Monitors video surveillance equipment as necessary. Identifies persons
of suspicious nature. Summons Police Officers immediately if necessary.
- Performs preliminary
investigations of security deficiencies or breaches not requiring a sworn
Police Officer's immediate attention. Completes Police Problem Report for
follow-up by sworn law enforcement.
- Routinely submits
verbal and written reports on incidents observed which include fire, safety
and security hazards noted while patrolling. Identifies witnesses of incidents
or events as first responder.
- Provides information,
escorts and related public services for members of the University Community
to include motorist assistance calls. Administers first-aid and CPR as necessary.
Assists with fingerprinting University Community members. Provides crime prevention
advice and assists with crime prevention programming to the University Community
as needed. Conducts crowd and traffic control as necessary during unusual
incidents.
- Provides assistance
to University Police Officers within scope and authority of this position.
- Performs related
duties as required such as: Shuts down lights/air conditioning equipment in
buildings. Locks and secures buildings as scheduled or requested. Maintains
and submits log of lights and air conditioning equipment turned off, and doors
locked. Clears spaces of unscheduled occupants as required to enforce shutdown
schedule.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Must meet requirement of Chapter 493, Florida Statute, and have a high school
diploma and one year of appropriate experience. Appropriate college course work
or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the
required experience. Weekend, holiday, and late night hours required; five-day
workweek, eight-hour work shifts. Background investigation required including
fingerprint check through the FBI.
ANNUAL SALARY:
$15,825.47 annually.
WORKWEEK:
The basic workweek is forty (40) hours; time-and-a-half paid for all additional
hours physically worked over forty (40) hours. Shifts rotate approximately every
17-18 weeks.
EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS:
Eligible for six (6) semester-hours free tuition.(This may be difficult for
supervisors to approve during the required SSG Field Training.)
HOLIDAYS:
Nine (9) paid holidays per year, plus one (1) personal day.
ANNUAL LEAVE:
May accrue 104 hours for first 5 years, 130 hours for 5-10 years and 156 hours
for 10 years or longer. Any annual leave hours accrued in excess of 240 hours
at close of business on 12/31 each year will be converted to sick leave hours.
SICK LEAVE:
May accrue 104 hours per year. There is no maximum number of sick leave hours
that may be accrued.
