Functions of Records:
The authorized Records Division members are responsible
for the dissemination, privacy and security of police reports and
law enforcement records housed within the Records Division. We gather
statistical information and coding for the Uniform Crime Reporting
purposes, disseminate criminal and non-criminal reports in compliance
with applicable laws, accept law enforcement subpoenas served on
law enforcement officers, and responsible for fulfilling public
records requests for copies of law enforcement reports in accordance
with the Florida Public Records Law. The Records Division makes
available to the public a Police Department Activity Report
of offenses that have been reported to the University of South Florida
Police Department which also includes the disposition of any case
investigated by this agency within the report. The Records Division
is also responsible for insuring that all requirements of the Jeanne
Clery Campus Crime Act are met and public notification is available.
